Back here

Sometimes it's hard to come back and I tend to make a new one instead of using old one.

It happens always... I think.

Thesedays, I've been reading our textbook, "Steps to Writing Well" and I found out it's very practical even for me. (I heard it's for a native speaker....)

It suggests that we'd better writing a journal everyday about anything.

It's good to write something everyday and it will help to improve my writing skill.

I hope I have someone to correct my writing... but for a while until I have one, I'm going to try myself.

If anyone who reads my writing and willing to comment, please do so.

Payphone in Toronto

I found out today that a payphone (Telus) in York, I only need to pay 25 cents.

I used to pay 50 cents when I use the payphone in the downtown.

I searched internet and Bell increased the cost last year from 25 cents to 50 cents.

Does university have any contract with Telus? Or the cost of Telus is 25 cents.

I know almost everyone has cellphone and people are not interested in payphone..

However, I cannot find the reason in the internet. Does anyone know? ^^

Student Lead Discussion: Brand product

Last week, I participated the student lead discussion regarding Branded Product whether we should pay more than other products and whether we would buy branded products.

It was a big issue in Korea few years ago, since young people spent most of mony to buy expensive products. And one of office girl took the money from the company she worked to buy those products. When the police investigated her small apartment, there were full of branded bags, shoes and clothes, and some of them, she did not even open yet.

What makes people crazy about branded products?
I think branded products, it is also kind of drugs... people can be addicted. In the discussion, one of students said that one of his friend was complaining about the price in Canada, food, house, transportation.... things we need. However, when they went for shopping, he bought $100 for a simple T-Shirt. He said, he wanted to kill him. :p

Why do people give a value on these products, especially, well know brand in the world? What drives people purchase these products? I think it's because people also judge other people by their outfit.
When we go to a department store, we can easily find out that the clerk there judges us by our clothes, and my mom used to wear a good dress when she went to the department store.
One of my college, before she got married, she went to the department store with her future mother-in-law with future sisters-in-law, the family is quite rich, but the mother-in-law was typical suburban woman who likes farming. On that day, they went to buy expensive mink coat for her, and went to the shop. Actually, no clerks looked at them and no one tried to sell the products. One of high tempered sister-in-law called the manager, and told her what they were doing, how they judged people by outlook, and she asked the manager that she should teach them from the basic.

Value is changing these days. People used to say that the character of people is important, but thesedays, people tend to think outfit is more important. People also become a commodity rather than humans. How do those contents go? Disappeared. Sometimes, it's so sad that.... I also become one of them... I also prefer a pretty woman to an ugly woman.. -_-;;; I should blame myself first. Humm... it's hard to close this topic. It's still an issue we need to think.

IKEA

Yesterday, I visited IKEA with my husband to check what we need to buy for moving.
We decided to move and rented a one bedroom apartment near school and will move in on September 1st.

We are moving in unfurnished, so we need to buy lots of stuff.
We are going to purchase most of furniture or dishes from used market, but BED.. I want to buy new one. I seems wierd for people in here, but most Korean don't like to buy used BED including me since we do not know who lied down there before and what happened..

I took a subway to Leslie (transport at Sheppard to the east) and there was a Shuttle bus to IKEA. (If you want to go, you should go upstair where buses are coming in and go out to the station and bus comes every 20 minutes)

I really loved it. There are coloful kitchen utensils, cups, waste bin, and others. We spent an hour and went down to eat hot dog, it was only 2 dollar 50 cents for two hot dogs, one small chip and one medium size drink... But it was small of course and my husband had three hot dogs.. ^^

We checked the price and size there, and we will go back after we visit used market.

I think the price in IKEA is relatively reasonable. Since we're looking for temporary use about three years, I think the price there is very good for people like me. Mightbe, if we are looking for furniture for more than 10 years use, I doubt whether it's good enough.
However, some of products, the design was great and I really love to buy it.

It was bit far from home, but I think I'll visit there quite often after I move in.

Broadview - Danforth Greek Fest

I printed the map to teacher's house and change my clothes since it is first time to visit a teacher's house, so I want to give Nathalie good impression. I went to school to pick up my husband and went down to Sheppard and dropped by Dominion to by cookies. Normally, when we visit other person's place, we'd brought something for thanks for inviting.

We went down to Broadview station and I took out my map. OH! MY! GOD!

I didn't realize that I did not bring the apartment number. I did not even have any phone number of classmates. -.-;;;;;; I was so upset about myself... how stupid I am... I really wanted to see Nathalie.... I missed this precious opportunity.... -.-;;;; I could not think of anything... My husband was teasing me.... hey... you alwasy forget something...

I did not know what I could do.... but I wanted to see how Broadview has changed.

Broadview is familiar name for me. It's going back to 12 years ago when I first came to Canada. It was first time being in overseas as well. No one I had here and I was staying at Canadian's house. I arrived at my homestay family's house on Saturday night and I slept. However, I woke up about three am and could not sleep because of Jetlag. Acually, I was forced coming here by my dad, and I was really scrared of being in unknown country.

I woke up so early and started to think of my mom and stared to crying. I was writing a letter to my mom and I hate this country and I want to come back to Korea... I was crying all night - I think it is the longest night I ever had and longest time I ever cried- until I make my homestay mother wake up. Originally, she was from Greece and she was a professor at George Brown College.

She came to my room and asked what's going on.
I was crying again and said "I really miss my mom!"
It again made me cry. I really hated that situation that I had to speak English especially when I really missed my mom....

She took me to Danforth street - her house was close to Danforth, and I normally took a bus to the house from Broadview station- and there was Greek Festival as I remember that was May.
She took me a restaurant and I ate Squid fried which looked very familiar to Korean food.

On the way back to home, she dropped by almost all convenience stores to find any Korean and found one Korean lady running one store. I was crying again and really happy to see a Korean there.......

It was my first day in Canada and the first day was the start date of Greek Festival.

When I heard a station name, "Broadview" from Don, I was thinking the first day and wanted to do there to check how much it has been changed and as well as see a gorgious lady, Nathalie... but I missed.

However, my husband and I decided to enjoy the Fest, and we walked from Broadiew to Pape and enjoyed the sciene. However, as I remember there were so many people packed, but not this time. Unlike before, I could see lots of advertisements from big companies.

Anyway, it is always good to participate festivals in Canada and we had a good time there.

Eventhough I missed a chance to attract (^^;) Nathalie with Cookie, I'll bring them to the class... I hope tomorrow, I'll not forget that.

I envy all of you seeing Nathalie!

Searching for Osama

Yesterday, I was watching News.. I think it was alsmot first time I did since I came to Canada.

One woman from UK had an interview and talked about Osama loves.

She came here to search people whose name are Osama.

She says she wants to change the image of Islam through finding Osama which is notorious name now.

Osama is one of common name in Islam countries like John, and it means little lion representing braveness.

You will see there are so many people whose name are Osama and what they are doing.

It was touching when I saw the little boy there.


I remeber the day when the world trade center had crashed down.

It was bit late and I was coming back home from work and my father called me and said the world trade center was attached by plane.

I was feeling like he said some jokes. How come the building in the US could be attacked? ... No way.

But, when I got home, I felt like there would be World War III soon.....

After the incident, the US was prepared the war to Afganistan to find Osama Bin Laden and finally did.

Since then, I think and she also thinks the world has a wrong perception against Islam countries.

I think the US is using Islam country to create new enemy. (The US lost UK (long time ago) and Soviet Union, but North Korea is too small to attack and finally find new big enemy to create a war)

However, anyway, people see the war and innocent people (Soldiers from their own countries-families) are dying.. then cannot stop having bad image about Islam country.

The purpose of looking for Osamas is giving other world the image of smile from Islam country.

It is great to have those events, but she wanted to visit the US, but the visa was refused.

Any way, since I've got here, I has a very good relationship with Saudi Arabian students and learned a lot about them.

Last Friday, my husband and I with other friends were invited by Abdule and Kaosha (bother and sister, both are stuying at YUELI ^^)

They cook dinner for us and we talked about Islam cultures.

I was actually asking about the marriage... I was hesitated.. but asked...

One married woman told me that to get married another woman, there should be always a reason for that.

Like, if a wife cannot deliver baby, is sick or cannot have sexual life, it is allowed to have another woman.

She says, the first wife also allows a husband to get married and gives money to the second wife.
(First wife also gets money from a husband)

It is better to have an official wife than to have an affair by cheating... Before marriage, they should always present Health Inspection Report and it also helps to avoid having bad diseases.

I think it makes sense... some extent... Rather than to see a husband have an affair, having second wife would be better.. ^^

She also says that it only happens in the past since men were so health.. but not now.. ^^;;

But, anyway, I also get rid of one of my misperception about Islam country.

As well, there are a lot of simliar games we have and there are a lot of similarities as well with Korean culture.

They sit and sleep on the floor like us (but thesedays, we prefer sleeping in bed to sleeping on the floor).

They have a special game with black and white stones like us - with finger we kick(tick?) other's stone out of the plate.

Whenever I have time to talk with them, I'm amazed by not only their culture itself, but also similarities.

Sometimes I feel, the World was one at the beginning, and Sons of one Ancestor went to different places and builded up new countries. They had to survive with each country's weather, land and air, so they changed and become different people.

Some of things still all have, but some of things has been changed..

That's why we can find similar culture in a miles away country.

That's my theory. ^^

By the way, I think it is always good to know other culture and I can learn a lot from it.

Final Essay

Finally, finished my final essay-first draft. ^^

I was confused until yesterday how I can write, but finally decided how.

I'm not sure this essay let me get a good mark, but I'm relieved because finally I mange to combine two policies, but actually it's more like the liberal side.

It was very difficult subject for me since I wasn't aware of this issue before.

Actually, when I started, I strongly disagree with taking drugs.

However, when I started to read articles- I choose those articles since I thought those are opponents' opinions, so I was going to collect their opinions to beat them, those fascinated me... fool me..

However, I realize how people tend to try when they were forced not to do.

Remember those days when we were high school students, parents and teachers commended us not to read comic books.... It sounds ridiculous now, but it was serious at that time.

However, almost students as I know went to read comic books.

There is saying in Korea, when a mice is chased by a cat, it bits a cat.

"Even a worm will turn" translated in English Version "When held at bay, cowards will often fight."

People need a room to breath I think.

During the research, I found that the differences between Asian countries and Western Countires. None of article was about Asian countries.

I think when the country is rich and people are afford to buy expensive drugs, there are always drug problems.

I never take drug problems seriously. I always think it is existing only in the movie not in my normal life.

However, it was a good experience.

I have one final curiosity about the US, why not drugs but guns. I think guns are more serious problems than drugs.

Drugs only kill drug users not others, but guns kill others.

Drugs are suiside substences, but guns are homocide substences...

I guess ARM dealers give a lot of money to politicians but not drug dealers...^^;

Anyway, now it's time to go to bed...

I went to harbor front on Saturday night and it was beautiful. I'm going to write about it tomorrow... ^^

Change setting

Hi All,

I thought I change setting for comment, but did not save...^^;

I did it, please write comment if you have any.

I feel much better than last week.

As we read a peom today, without explanation of other people, we can figure out answers ourselves or questions are not important and we already know answers. (As I understood. I'm not sure whether it's correct.^^; However, I think people tend to understand a peom in their situation. I think, therefore, analizing a peom could be always different.)

humm.. I think I could say people interprete a poem with their own guts (?).

Not only a peom but also a story as well.

By the way, I feel better and I decide to make me relax.

My husband is watching "Love Actually"- my favorite movie now. It's almost midnight, and the song in the movie "Christmas is all around you" is singing which makes me feel happy.

I like the singer in the movie - he was a dracular king in "Under World" : it sounds a lot different ^^ - and I think his music and his behavior is contributing a big scene in the movie.

I think I would watch this until it finishes today.. and it's more than 5th time watching this movie. I think tomorrow would be a little bit tough to be awake. ^^

Need Fresh Air

Thesedays I feel so exhuasted since everything is mixed up. I'm studying English together with GMAT to apply for MBA. The due date is Septermber 1st and I do not have much time. I'm attending GMAT workshop at night for four hours and I'm studying English bewteen two classes. I wanted to study both at the same time.... however, I think it's overwhelm.... I'm too tired to do both of them at the same time, and I think my body cannot cope with them. My pimpled started to come out of my face and my mouth is upset. For more than two weeks, I can have hardly eaten and it has spreaded to my lips at last. I put some antiseptic on my lips and my lips were blown up. I hate to show myself to other people. Unfortunately, I have classes to attend and I do not want to miss any of them.

Sometimes, I feel I have too strong desire. Whenever I want to acheive something, I'm too eager to do. I do not look back the past and I only look forward until I realize how badly I draw myself into. I'm completely preoccupied with my goal. I cannot help with that. But now, I can feel my brain is dying... -.-;; I cannot think actively and I cannot find out what I should do at this point. I cannot not focus on any of them.

Last Tuesday, I asked my friend who studies GMAT with me to take me home. I needed someone about my age to talk with other than my husband. She's always nice person to talk and she always understands my situation. She suggested me to take more relax. If I'm too tired, there is higher chance to give up. I know I won't give up, but my body would drag me to give up. I shouldn't let it happen.

I decided to focus on studying English since it's the most important now, but I'm going to attend GMAT class as well since there is two more classes to attend now. I'll put off studying GMAT for a while and will contribute most of my time in English.

I really hated studying when I was young, but I really like it now.

I can feel it fills my brain and quench my thirsty of knowledge.

Most of my friends and families were worried when I told them I would go to Canada to study with my husband since giving up all the work, I'm kind of old to study without earning any money. But I knew, I cannot do two things at the same time. When I worked, I spend almost my time to work and I could not split my time to do other things.

I had been too hectic to work for 10 years, and I had decided to give a vacation for me, so I decided to study.

Ah... how stupid I am... I already know I cannot do two things at the same time... how come I tried again this time.....

When I first got here, my English was messed up. I could not speak correctly and my writing was full of nonsenses. I still need a lot of work to improve my English, but I can feel gradually, my English is improving.

To move forward, I'll restart my engine. For a while, I'll not think of anything else.. won't think about the due date, won't think about GMAT score....

I'm here now..... Present is the most important. Future is dependant on the present. No one can change his life in the future, but in the present.

My MOTO is "Do not look back, do not regret!! Think all the possibilites before you decide, and do not look back. The other way you did not choose looks always better. But it's not. If you start to regret, whatever you choose, you always regret!! Eventhough you fail, you would learn something from it. Next time, when you choose the same way, that time, you will not fail since you know what made you fail."

Life is complicated, but we can design our lives. Whatever we dream, we can achieve if we really do hard.

For a moment, I'm depressed.. but like Morie said, I'm going to enjoy this for a while. Then I'll get out of here soon after I enjoy this fully.....

Visiting friends' house

YUEL has some married couples who are studying together. One is my husband and I and one another is Ahmud and Coro. Ahmud was my husband classmate in the last session. Ahud and Coro are from Saudi Arabia. I've come to know them through all the tours I had in YUELI. Since we came here just before the last session started, I wanted to show all the beautiful places to my husband and we had participated in all the trips and so had they, Ahmud and Coro. Actually, before I came here, I had sort of prejudice about Saudi Arabian woman. She should wear scarp to hid her face, neck, hands and foot and I thought Saudi Arabian woman must be inactive and man is dominant. However, this couple totally made me change my thought. Coro is very fashionable and very active. She has agressively participated all the activities and she is also very kind to everyone. Last term, however, I only said to her "Hi" and "Bye" whenever we came across but I wanted to have more chances to talk with her.

Last week, I had a great chance to have talk with her. We are considering to move apartment right now and my husband told me that Ahmud and Coro are living in one bedroom apartment and it is not that expensive. When I heard that, I wanted to see what it looked like and asked my husband to ask them whether we can visit their place. We met them in front of classroom and asked whether we could visit their place the day, last Thurdays and they said okay. I was so delighetd and brought some juces. Surprisingly, she prepared Saudi Arabian food for us!! I hoped just see their place for 10 minutes but she prepared dinner for us. I felt very sorry but it turned out that they should thank us according to their religion. It's marvolous whenever I hear something about Muslum culture. She said if someone visits their home, she brings the luck to the house, so visiters are always welcome in Muslum culture. I was amazed how this people look the world differently than we were. AND the food was great!!

Unlike me, I think she's a very good cook. Ahumud is luck to have such a great wife, beautiful, fashionable and good cook. Poor my husband. -.-;

I drank Saudi style coffee too. At first time when I saw, it was very wierd since the color of coffee was not black but green. They said when coffee beans are boiled, the green abstract is produced. It's the ligth coffee what I drank. If we want to have the black colored-coffee, we should boil several times to get the dark one. I like Sudi style coffee better. It was less strong and simple. It was perfect match after the meal.

Ah~ I did not say about them much.... ^^

They got married just before they came here. They came here at the similar time when we came here. They had a honeymoon here too. ^^

I hope I can keep in touch with them, and share our cultures.

When I move my place into the apartment and I'm going to invite them, but I think I'd rather not cook, they will hate Korean food if I cook. I told my husband to cook. Indeed, he's better than me. I hope they can enjoy Korean food like I did.

Easy to talk?

Do I look every easy to talk when you see me at first time?

I often wonder why a person on the street, a stranger starts to talk to me instead of other people around me. I often think "Do I look very easy to talk?" I often meet people on the street to ask questions, ask money, and talk.

Two weeks ago on Sunday, I attended a class, and one lady besides me talked to me when the lunch break started. She asked me whether I wanted to have lunch with her. I was so pleased and went out for lunch. Besides her there were few other people but she chose me. Her name is Ivy. She is same age as me and just starts the study as well. We decided to have more intensive class in the downtown and everytime the class finishes, she drives me to back home. I'll meet her tonight again and I feel we would be good friends.

On the same day, at the bus stop, I met a guy from Nigeria who was staying near my home. We had a good conversation before we separated. His name was Martin.

Last Friday, again I was heading to the class to the downtown, I was too tired and sleepy and looked for a seat to sit down. Finally, one lady took off and I took her seat. There was one college student sitting next to me. She seemed to fill out one form and was murmuring. Suddenly she asked "What is the other expenses?". I was surprised. I asked "What is the form?" She said that it was the expense claim she had to submit to the college to refund. I told her that I assumed she could put her transportation cost like TTC pass, her glasses, and so on. She asked more questions, but I did not know what it meant in Canada. Even though I told her I was ESL student, she did not care and asked more questions.

Having more experiences to talk with strangers both Korea and here, I sometimes think whether I look very easy to talk to. Hope it is kind of good image of me.

Energy - YELT practice

Q: What forms of energy are most commonly used in your native country? What problems have been caused or are likely to happen by using these energy sources? What political or social solutions would you propose to prevent or to solve energy-related problems in your country?

Essay:

The number one enegery source in Korea is "Uranium", neuclear power. We have some nuclear power plants. The problem of these plants is wastes produced from the processing of the Uranium. There are still debates on the effects of the wastes; however residents living near the waste facility are afraid of being exposed to radiation. Korea does not have any natural resources so to speak; however, there are some alternatives to produce environment friendly energy.

First of all, we can use "Solar energy". Korea has nice, hot summers. All year round, we can enjoy nice sun. Suing solar energy doesn't create pollution and it is free and unlimited. Some local residents has built a huge solar energy distribution center at their own cost, and they have sold the energy to local manufacturing companies. They not only use it for themselves, but alos they earn money from the center. In addition to that, the use of solar energy is encouraged by the government thesedays, subsidizing the cost of the equipment.

Secondly, we can use tide as well. Korea is a peninsula and it has three seashores. At the west seaside, everyday we can see a tide. The sea goes out like 100kim away, and comes back at a very high speed. We can not only enjoy the scene, but we can also create energy from it. If we build a power plant there, at least people living near the sea can save their money for the electricity, heat and airconditioning.

All Koreans used to be taught that we do not have natural resources, so we should import energy from other countries and produce things to sell. However, we only looked into conventional energy. Wind, water, sun, and others, all countries in the world have at least one energy source. In my opinion, since importing fuel energy was cheaper than building facilities for natural energy, we used to make the easy choice. However, it is time we should wash our brain with new ideas. Using conventional energy will harm our environment, and we cannot survive without nature. Even though the start might be difficult, we should begin for our next generation. Now is the time to use real natural resources.

Sunday - TTC

On Sunday last week, I had to go down to St. George to attend a class for GMAT. It took normally less than an hour, so I left at home about 8am (the class started at 9am). There was only one person standing there when I'd got to the stop. Biting my breakfast prepared by my husband, I was waiting for the bus. The bus did not come not like the other day and I assumed since it was Sunday, the interval of the bus was longer than other days. The guy standing the bus stop approached me and started to talk to me. His name is Martin having studied his matster in England and comes from Nigeria. Obtaining immigrationship, he came to Canada early this year. The bus came half an hour later and we got into the bus going to the Downsview station. However, the bus did not stop at the Downsview station and detour to the other station. He and I were wondered why the bus did not go to the Downsview. We, both knew that the subway did not run on Sunday before 9AM. It surprised me. A lot of things in Canada surprise me.

1. Stores & TTC

I learned that it's illegal that stores run on Sunday. Only the place for tourists can open its store on Sunday but should close early. We never do that in Korea. Most people are working during the weekdays and weekends are only time they can do the shopping. If stores are closed in weekends, where we can buy things we need. As well, I wonder what people are doing on weekends if there is not many things they can do.

As well, it's kind of wierd for me that TTC does not operate the subway before 9AM.

2. Food Dumping (?) and recycling

At home, my landloard told me that I could put the food in the SINK and it grinds the food and send it to the drain. It is one of the most strange things I see in here. If all the remains of food we have are going to the drain, the water would be polluted. Even though Canada has the great system of purifying the water, I think it is not right to dump the food in the water.

As well, very few items are recycled. When I go to the fast food restaurant, I see people through the paper garbage together with food. There is no distintive garbage can we can throw separately. Canada might have huge place to bury the garbage but should start to recycle almost every products people comsume. The removing of plastic bag from the LCBO is the good start for that and placing separate garbage cans in all the subway stations is also great start. Today, returning from my class in downtown, I saw one woman claimed when she throw one can to the recycling can, "It's the first time in my life recylcling". I think in all the bus stops, those cans are needed.

In Korea, we do recycle almost everything and I used use only one 1 liter garbage bag per year.

3. Dry clothes

I came to know that dry the clothes outside was illegal until April this year. Due to the fact that hanging the clothes on the dry stand could lead the idea that only poor people hang the wet ones to dry since they cannot be afford to buy the dryer. Some extent, it looks right. However, we should think how much electricity we need to dry our clothes and some of clothes are smaller after the dry and we cannot wear those ones any more. To save the energy, I think we'd better dry out clothes hanging on the dry stand. It's also good for our health since the Sun kills bad bacterias which might live inside of clothes. I hope to have a washing machine which clears the dust out to dry my wet clothes under the Sun.

There are some issues which I've described above. I'm not sure what other people's opinion about and what Canadian really thinks about this.

Also, it might be narrow view of issues on the above, but the perception of the foreigner is also important for the native people to know I think.

Possible Topics of my Research Paper

1. Tourism in Korea and Canada
The reason why I chose this topic is because I want to extend my final essay in 5a Class.
My topic was Tourim in Canada. While writing the essay with the topic, I found my interests in the toursim.

Actually, I really like traveling and I've been doing a lot. I described some reasons why the tourism in Canada was declining recently. To extend my research, I want to compare Tourim in Korea and Canada in terms of accommodation, sites, costs, and packages.

However, the essay would be based on my opinion and I'm not sure I can find any good academic material to support my opinion. There would be very very few articles comparing Canada and Korea.

2. Drug
In my last class, my teacher brought one topic about the legalization of the drug. He brought some opinions from Cons. He wrote down support issues from the proponent of ligalization and I was totally disagreed. (It was for the argumentative essay) Unfortunately, I did not know the proper way to offend and I tried to argue the proponent opinions but I failed. Then I researched internet and found some supporting ideas of my opinion which I objected on the issues. Sadly, I did not have a chance to tell my classmates as well a teacher. BUT, I found some interesting entities from those articles and websites. I want to write an essay about it. Great things above all, I can find lots of material to support my opinion which makes my work easier.

3. Advertisement and Children
At my last seminar, World Issues which was very informative, useful and great, I learned from my classmate that in USA, one big company subsidies of the text books for children by free. However, they do not give them totally free, in the text book they put their products to advertise. Children could not help avoiding the advertisement.

I thought at first, "Wow it's great", however, just right after that, I realize that how badly it affects the children's life?

I want to find what kinds of advertisement we have already in the market towards children and figure it out how it affects children. Then, I'll decide whether we should prohibit that or we might slightly change the method for good way. I'm not sure whether there is a good way or not.

4. TV and Children including adolescent
This topic was June YELT topic which I failed. I had too much to say for that but I did not have time.
My sentences in all the paragraph jumped from one idea to the other idea since I could not manage the time.

Somtimes, knowing the topic very well could ruin our essay.

I also want to develop my idea.



I'm not sure which one is good for the final essay yet and I'll ask my teacher's advice.

Even though I choose only one topic above for my final essay, I'll try to write my own essays here.

I hope I have time for that.

GMAT Intensive Course

These weekends I've attended GAMT Intensive Course. It was real intensive course. On Friday night, I've studied from 6pm~10pm, on Saturday studied from 9am to 6:30pm and today studied from 9am to 8pm.

Despite the fact that the length of the lecture was very long, the course was just great, tremendous. The teacher taught us the technique of the questions and I thought it was 100% practical. The way of his teaching was very very effective. All the students, 50 were native speakers except me. At first time when I had to introduce myself, I was bit embarrassed but I decided to be brave since there was no reason for me to ashame my English. Since everyone knew I'm ESL student, they were very patient when I asked questions and they were even more kind to me. During the class, I made as many as questions and even answered questions. I've answered one question which no one knew. It was not the Math question, it was ENGLISH GRAMMAR QUESTION! I was so proud to answer the question and everyone seemed very surprised. The question was about the Subjuctive. He asked what is Subjuctive and wrote two first alphabet. One was "M" and one was "T". Not noticing what he wrote on the board, I raised my hand and started answering. "As I learned, Subjuctive does not have mood and tense." He seemed pleased to get the answer from at least one person and asked few more questions which other people in the room never heard before. Although answered the question, I was wondered why no one knew. He said that since all students there did not learn grammar in high school so the questions they made were very simliar which ESL students did. I met few people there and decided to form the study group for two or three students (actually all people are working now and they are trying to enter MBA after obtaining the GMAT score) with NATIVE SPEAKERS!!!! They did not mind my English nor not being Canadian.

From this experience, I realize that not only attending English courses but also attending other courses teaching in English (of course.. it's Canada!!) would be great. For 22 hours, I had to understand NOT English, BUT the content what he was talking about. As well, I wrote down lots of expressions which the teacher and students made which I thought it would be great to know for the time when I need to express my thinking.

I'm going to attend few more classes outside of YUELI in spite that the task of Level 6 is very heavy. I think every activity I make will help my improving English. Whenever I take other courses I'll post here.
